SANJOSE appointed to refurbish Hotel Ritz, Madrid

Mandarin Oriental and Olayan Group have appointed SANJOSE Constructora for the refurbishment works of Hotel Ritz, Madrid, which is one of the leading five-star luxury hotel in the capital of Spain. Since its inauguration in 1910 by Alfonso XII, the historical landmark has been characterised for being a reference of the social and cultural life of the city due to its exclusivity, its facilities and its unbeatable location in the heart of the city, at 5, Plaza de La Lealtad, between the Prado Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum.

Hotel Ritz, Madrid is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment. The extensive work will significantly upgrade the hotel’s facilities and services, while maintaining its unique character, with the aim of enhancing the property’s appeal to local and international guests alike, while celebrating César Ritz’s pioneering spirit.

The refurbishment works to be executed by SANJOSE have been designed by the architect Rafael de La-Hoz together with the collaboration of the French interior designers Gilles & Boissier. When the works are completed, the hotel will have reduced the number of total rooms, from the current 166 to 153, thus allowing more spacious rooms and to increase the number of suites to 47. Among them the exclusive Royal Suite and Presidential Suite stand out, having 188 and 115 square meters respectively. All the spaces and meeting rooms will be refurbished to adapt their equipment to the current needs of the luxury hotel client.

The former glass roof placed in the central hall at the moment of the inauguration of the hotel will be reinstalled. The main restaurant will return to its original space and shall also be provided with direct access to the terrace. Further, a new bar, a complete gym, an indoor pool with a wide range of wellness services and new meeting rooms will also be created.
