Sanjose will execute the public works of the Lote Sur - Tunnels of Pajares for 83.5 million Euros

Adif has awarded the JV formed by Sanjose Constructora (60%) and Peninsular de Contratas (40%) the execution in 13 months of the public works of the Lote Sur - Tunnels of Pajares of the Spanish High Speed Rail System (AVE) Madrid - Asturias Stretch La Robla - Pola de Lena (By-pass of Pajares).

The tunnels of Pajares, which will be the second longest tunnels in Spain and the seventh longest tunnels in Europe, consist of two parallel tunnels of nearly 25 km each and a diameter of 8.50 m, designed for speeds over 250 km/h. These tunnels will allow the passing of trains across the Cantabrian Mountains reducing the current route from 83 to 50 km.
