The national power company UTE (Administración Nacional de Usinas y Trasmisiones Eléctricas) of Uruguay has awarded Fingano S.A. - Consortium formed by Grupo Sanjose (40%), Corporación America (40%) and Contreras Hermanos (20%) - the execution, development and maintenance during the following 20 years of a wind farm of 50 MW of generating capacity in the country department of Maldonado. This Project is the result of the initiative of the Board of Directors of UTE to buy 150 MW of wind energy.
The wind farm, which consists of 25 aero generators of 2 MW of generating capacity each, will be running within three years. Fingano will run the wind farm for the following 20 years by applying a concession model which ensures a fixed rate for each generated MWh.
This project implies a business portfolio amounting to $ 315 million.
This new Project both enhances the Energy and Environmental business activity and strengthens the geographical diversification strategy of Grupo Sanjose, who completed year 2010 with a historic high at its international portfolio (40.8%).
