EXTENSION OF THE HOSPITAL CLÍNICO UNIVERSITARIO DE SANTIAGO DE COMPOSTELA (SPAIN)

Extension of the Hospital Clínico Universitario de Santiago de Compostela (CHUS) by almost 30% that includes actions at both ends of the current building: extension A, which consists of the construction of a new building with 4 basement floors, ground floor and 4 floors above ground, connected to the current building A (including the renovation of the transit areas between the two buildings and the urbanisation of the surrounding area); and extension C, in which a new building with 2 basement floors, ground floor and 3 floors above ground is being executed, connected to building C by two corridors.

Works will make it possible to have 5 new inpatient stay units with 36 beds each and a new haematology unit with 28 beds, adding 208 more beds available and allowing the rooms to be double or single. The increase in surface area will make it possible to enlarge the paediatric emergency rooms and refurbish the adult emergency rooms, incorporate 7 operating theatres and improve areas such as the microbiology laboratory, the day hospital, the breast unit, endoscopies and outpatient clinics.
