The first of February, Jacinto Rey, Chairman of Grupo Sanjose, travelled together with other board members of the company to Maputo, capital city of the Republic of Mozambique. The purpose of this trip was to formalise the implementation of Grupo Sanjose in the country, who from now on will collaborate in the development of infrastructure projects in the country bordered by the Indian Ocean.

Last November, on the occasion of the official visit of the President of Mozambique Armando Emilio Guebusa to Madrid, Jacinto Rey discussed with the Mozambican dignitary the main collaboration lines.

Now, the Chairman of Grupo Sanjose travelled to Maputo to meet the Government Minister of Public Works of Mozambique, Cadmiel Mutemba, the Deputy Minister and several holders of key ministry positions. He also met the Government Minister of Tourism, Fernando Sumbana Junior, and several local businessmen.

Before returning to Spain, he was welcomed at the Republic’s quarters by the President Guebusa in company of Alfonso Paz-Andrade.

Initial areas of cooperation are the execution of more than 100,000 social housing units for government employees, road network infrastructure projects comprising more than 150km of roads and a double-track bridge 3.5km long and the urbanisation of nearly 600 ha.

Other projects currently under review are the execution of a tourist complex near Maputo and several hydraulic dams for irrigation and exploitation of hydraulic power purposes.

Mozambique, with 20 million of inhabitants, is undergoing a continuous and constant economic growth which turns the country into one of the most attractive emerging markets of southern African.
